FRANK MORGAN
CATALOGUE | RECORDING | SUMMARY |
BORN: Bitton, Gloucestershire, 1917
LIVED: Luxborough, Williton
RECORDING MADE: 2002
RECORDING LENGTH: 3 hours 29 minutes
Frank Morgan is a sociable man, though hard to get hold of. Deeply committed to church and community affairs, he is life president of Williton Hospital's League of Friends, which he helped found more than 30 years ago. He has the Royal Maundy Award for services to the church and an MBE.
He and his wife Vera moved to Luxborough shortly after the war, taking on the shop with all its motley contents. They ran it, and later the post office, for 22 years. From a time when people queued for the arrival of the butcher, and with him the weekly newspaper, to the coming of electricity and the river flooding in 1963.
He continued his involvement in community life when they moved to Williton, to take over the much larger post office there. We only pass through this world once, he says, so any good we can do, we should do it now, not put it off.
Frank Morgan died in August 2015.
